#NeverSettle

In the last couple of years, I have adopted my own life philosophy:  #NeverSettle. Initially, the idea of #NeverSettle came from a school project, where I used it as a slogan for a hypothetical campaign in my elections class because the letters in it could be used to spell my last name. The more I thought about it, however, the more I realized that the concept of never settling is one that my parents held when they decided to immigrate to the United States; Never settling was not just a philosophy, it was in my blood.

“The more I thought about it, however, the more I realized that the concept of never settling is one that my parents held when they decided to immigrate to the United States; Never settling was not just a philosophy, it was in my blood.”

Since adopting this attitude of never settling, I began to notice just how much of the world surrounding me had come to accept less than the best. In my beloved hometown of Fall River, residents have settled for crooked politicians, substandard policies, wasted taxpayer dollars, and a far-from-perfect life. By accepting that ‘satisfactory’ was enough, so many people have belittled their worth, permitted mediocrity to prevail, and above all, settled for a life that is not good enough for them. After seeing how never settling paid dividends for me, I made it my mission to serve others and help them realize that they too must #NeverSettle, and accept nothing but the best the world has to offer.

With this website and the #NeverSettle Blog, I hope to inspire and empower others to adopt this attitude and realize their worth. After all, never settling earned me the privilege of wearing the captain band of my varsity soccer team. Never settling got me elected as student body president. Never settling pushed me to start the ‘I AM FALL RIVER’ movement. Never settling motivated me to get my Emergency Medical Technician Certification. Never settling put me on pace to become the first person to earn a college degree on my father’s side of the family. Never settling inspired me to leave my comfort zone and study abroad in Seville, Spain for four months. Never settling helped me fall in love with my soulmate. Never settling inclined me to research Fall River so that one day I can return and be the man to help make my city a better place for everyone. Never settling, above all else, is what helped me find myself and love the world in a way I never have before.
